SIDIOUS are a five piece blackened death metal band from London, UK. With over five years of involvement in joint musical ventures, the members of SIDIOUS have come to create music both powerful in meaning and delivery.
SIDIOUS is all about closing the gap between ultra-massive modern blackened Death Metal and symphonic Black Metal with blazing fast parts, countless layers of orchestrations, commanding vocals and a very personal sense of the riff that sets them really apart from all the copycats.
Formed in late 2012, the band began writing in preparation for the recording of their debut EP. In May 2013, "Ascension to the Throne Ov Self" was released via Kaotoxin Records; an independant label based in France that had shown great intrigue and support in the band since it's earliest days. "Ascension..." was recorded at The Parlour Recording Studios in Kettering, UK, and produced by Russ Russell (Dimmu Borgir, Napalm Death, Evile..).
Their debut EP released in 2013 literally took the underground scene by storm, impressing even the hardest to impress of medias when it comes to untrendy music (“Fucking Gigantic!” said Metal Sucks!) and with “only” four tracks, created such an immense starting point many band would have thought their career reached their creative peak with such a release but for SIDIOUS, it was just the beginning!
2013's most reverred Black / Death newcomers are back with their darker than black debut full-length! They're back with a revamped line-up and brilliant debut full-length, if such word can be used for this dark album. After the release of "Ascension…", Sidious parted ways with their singer and drummer. Isfeth took over the vocals duties (still playing the guitar alongside founding member Indomitus) while a new drummer was recruited in the person of non other than COLOSUS’ impressive multi-instrumentalist, Krhudd. Teaming once again, as for "Ascension...", with world-renowned producer Russ Russell (Dimmu Borgir, Napalm Death...) and with stunning artwork by Giannis Nakos of Remedy Arts Design (EYE OF SOLITUDE…). Sidious spent a year writing and recording their debut full-length, "Revealed in Profane Splendour" which consists of seven new tracks, each containing as much punishingly fast and brutal Blackened Death Metal as dark, orchestral and fascinatingly splendid parts of magnificent grandeur. "Revealed In Profane Splendour" was released in November 2014 via Kaotoxin Records.
Definitely meant to ravish the souls of the Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Borknagar or Emperor fans, Sidious add to the mix a very personal and modern riffing that's hardly, if ever, been heard before in such over-crowded musical styles in which Sidious will easily be established way above the darkened maelstrom that seems to trend these days with a very personal approach, a both brutal yet superb songcrafting and a production quality rarely matched. Add to the mix stunning artwork by Remedy Arts' Giannis Nakos (Eye Of Solitude...) and a 1000 copies limited edition first press as a deluxe DigiSleeve and you'll get the ultimate packaging for some of the darkest gems of 2014!
SIDIOUS play a dark, epic, and chaotic style of blackened death metal. Drawing influences from bands in both the black and death metal genres, the band has created a unique take on the fusion of these two extreme metal styles.
The band has already received high praise for their releases by several printed publications, including Terrorizer and Zero Tolerance Magazine, despite their comparatively short lifespan to other commonly featured acts. There's also been a wealth of encouraging reviews written by many online zines, including well-known and popular sources for underground metal news such as MetalSucks.net and Metal Injection.
SIDIOUS has shared the stage with some well-established bands, such as; Anaal Nathrakh, Eastern Front, Benighted, Leng Tch'e, Evil Scarecrow, Eastern Front, God Seed, Shining, & Endstille.
It is a mighty conclusion to an increasingly imposing and impressing release. Revealed In Profane Splendour is a startling step on from the band’s first EP, employing all of its assets in viciously richer and deeper cavernous dark hymns. Sidious is on a demonic march with sounds to breed fear in even the devil.
