BIOGRAPHY
Iron Void was originally formed by Jonathan ‘Sealey’ Seale & Andy Whittaker (Solstice, The Lamp of Thoth) way back in November 1998 in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, UK. In order to create an old-school Doom Metal band worshipping at the altar of doom legends such as Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus and Pentagram, the original lineup consisted of: Sealey - Bass, Andy Whittaker - Guitars, Paul Whale - Vocals & Diz - Drums.
This lineup didn't last more than a few months, with Diz being replaced by Russ Thompson on Drums in September 1999. This lineup played a total of 16 gigs, before disbanding in early 2000.
Sealey decided to resurrect the moniker in July 2008, with the current lineup consisting of 2 ex - members of the original Iron Void (Sealey & Diz) & Steve Wilson (ex - So Mortal Be, R.I.P.).
Dan "Storm" Mullins briefly played with the band as a stand-in drummer, before he introduced them to Damien. Andy Whittaker (A.K.A. 'Randy Reaper') is currently the guitarist for occult doomsters, The Lamp Of Thoth.
They released the 1st official demo in October 2008, entitled 'Live 2008'. Then they recorded a STUDIO EP, entitled 'Spell of Ruin', was released in spring 2010 trougth Doomanoid Records. This was recently re-released (2012), as an expanded CD edition with 2 bonus tracks and additional photos.
The self-titled début album was recorded in 2013 with engineer / producer Matt Richardson (Arkham Witch, Bastard of The Skies). It was released on CD in 2014 on the Barbarian Wrath label. A limited vinyl version is due for release by Fear Me Music in 2015.
Live highlights have included a triumphant performance at Malta Doom Metal Festival 2012, tours with Nomad Son, The Prophecy & Mortalicum, Goatess and a UK & European tour with Hooded Priest and Arkham Witch. The band have played numerous shows with the likes of Pagan Altar, Lord Vicar, Witchsorrow, Solstice, The Lamp of Thoth, Leather Nun America, Iron Hearse, Misty Morning, Dark Forest, Asomvel and many more.
The new album Doomsday was recorded at Skyhammer Studio in March/April 2015 with Chris Fielding (Conan, Serpent Venom, Electric Wizard, Witchsorrow). It was released by Doomanoid Records in October 5, 2015, followed by a tour of the UK and Europe with King Heavy.
