BIOGRAHY
Founded in 2010, the language of these wonderful formation from Leipzig, Germany, is OPERA METAL. On the new album „Schuld“ the East German ensemble shows his most strongest, most aesthetic, most emotional and in substance most profound side. The percussion and driving, distorted sounds of guitar and bass form the basement. On that the classic instrumentation encounters, consisting of piano and cello as well as an e-violin which connects both styles with an interplay between classic play and distortion.
The vision to combine classical music and metal in a new way came alive in December 2011: molllust played the first show. Frontwoman Janika Groß (Vocals, Piano) was joined by Frank Schumacher (Vocals, E-Guitar), Sandrine B. (E-Violin), Lisa H. (Cello), Johannes Hank (E-Bass) and Daniel Wölfer (Drums). Ever since, they cause a great stir:
In springtime 2012 the band produced their debut-album “Schuld” with Andy Schmidt (Disillusion) at KickTheFlame/Echolux-Studio Leipzig. It was released on 22.09.2012. Worldwide critics were enthusiastic. In the meantime they also created a set of Bach cover versions. With these the band participated in the BachSpiele 2012 and could persuade the professional jury with accomplished adaptations. With Luisa Bauer performing in place of Sandrine B. at the violin, molllust was awarded the first prize for its outstanding performance. With their unique mixture of classical music and Metal the noble ensemble won e.g. German BachSpiele 2012
In July 2012 molllust imported Tommaso Soru straight from Italy, who replaced Ronny Garz after a half-year lasting interim at the drums. Due to the great success of the Bach covers, molllust recorded the EP "Bach con fuoco" and released it in March 2013. molllust created a special release show with additional strings and a choir on stage.
In August 2013 molllust was awarded as official M'Era Luna Newcomer 2013. FMC nominated molllust as one of the most promising Newcomers of Saxony in autumn. In addition, Janika Groß became Haggard-Soprano in November 2013. Also they were M’Era Luna Newcomer 2013 and Wacken Foundation founds the upcoming album. Molllust entered in the studio to record their next studio release which previously was scheduled for autumn 2014.
"In Deep Waters" is their second album and was released on September 25th 2015.
"In Deep Waters" shines with overlength: it contains 75 (!) minutes of brand new material with orchestral passages and texts in three different languages, once more produced by DISILLUSION-Mastermind Andy Schmidt. It is presented in a precious Digipak. When you buy the whole album, you'll get the booklet and the coverartwork as well.
In addition to 6 German vocalized compositions, the new monumental work of MOLLLUST is presented with 6 songs in English. Included are as well as per a French vocalized song and some passages in Italian. There are also to enjoy 2 special instrumental works.
That the trained MOLLLUST soprano Janika Groß strengthened the line-up at the established Symphonic Metal pioneers HAGGARD since December 2013, illustrates the relevance of their wide vocal skills and class. (E-guitarist and singer Frank Schumacher meanwhile also mixed in with HAGGARD, where he acts there as a live stand-in on tenor and bass.)
The warm, rather darkly colored lyrical soprano, occasionally supported through the straighter man‘s voice, crowns the sound of MOLLLUST. With arrangements out of classic feather, the six Leipzig residents concern the interesting Crossover of a classic side, without neglecting at the same time the Metal. All together yields an organic sound, stratified, frequently demanding, and at the same time also emotionally and catchily. Interested ones make itself at best a picture of the moving music of the German group. Perhaps you feel then with MOLLLUST, what enthuses and moves them. For MOLLLUST, their music is passion and more than only an sequence of tones. Words can describe that only insufficiently.
