Krallice - (2008 - 2016) [ Full Discography] - Bandcamp Stream

BIOGRAPHY
Krallice is a New York-based black metal project featuring the guitar work of notorious progressive/experimental metal musicians Colin Marston (Gorguts, Behold... the Arctopus, Byla, Indricothere and others) and Mick Barr (Crom-Tech, Orthrelm, Octis and others), along with Nick McMaster and Lev Weinstein of death metal band Astomatous.

Krallice was first mentioned by Marston in February 2008 as a collaboration between himself and Mick Barr. Marston, a member of the instrumental metal groups Behold... The Arctopus and Dysrhythmia, and Barr, a member of tech metal duo Orthrelm, performed together on a split in 2006, and continued a working relationship from which Krallice developed. Lev Weinstein had joined sometime after and the trio recorded and released their eponymous debut album on Canadian independent record label Profound Lore in 2008 to high critical praise.

Nick McMaster was brought in to perform live bass. McMaster had been featured as an additional vocalist on the debut album, but joined the band full time shortly after its release (the bass on the first album was performed by both Marston and Barr). McMaster also created some of the artwork for their second album Dimensional Bleedthrough, which was released in November 2009 again on Profound Lore.

Double vinyl releases of the two albums were put out by Gilead Media in 2009 and 2010, respectively. A third album, Diotima, followed in 2011, once again on Profound Lore; a vinyl edition, once again by Gilead Media, shipped around September 20, 2011. An EP entitled Orphan of Sickness was also released in 2011 (for free), as was a flexi-disc single entitled Traditional, which shipped with the September 2011 issue of Decibel Magazine. The band's fourth album, Years Past Matter, was self-released in August 2012. A vinyl edition released by Gilead Media followed a few months later. The band's fifth album, Ygg huur, was self-released in 2015.

It'd probably be safe to say that the NYC black metal band Krallice loves releasing new music when you're not expecting it. In 2015, they released their pummeling Ygg huur, and on  January 1, 2016 they've released their new record Hyperion. It's 26 minutes of progressive and forward thinking black metal, and perfect to make your new years a little darker. Hyperion was recorded in the summer of 2013, can be purchased digitally, as well as on a limited-to-500 edition digipak version of the release.

The musical style of Krallice could be described as fairly clean by black metal standards, with long, dynamic songs containing some distinctive progressive metal influences. They've been compared to Weakling in some ways, although their music focuses much more on progressive song structures and less on the dissonant droning of Weakling's Dead as Dreams.
