BIOGRAPHY
Nifrost is an extreme metal band from Jølster in the western part of Norway that was formed in 2005. The band’s music is inspired by black metal, infused with Norwegian folk and sung in the band members’ mother tongue, the band makes a rurally oriented metal rooted in the black with a heavy infusion of folk tunes, combined with ripping riffs and screaming lyrics in the members' mother tongue, "Jølstramål". The line up consists in Eyvind Aardal (guitar, vocals), Kjetil Andreas Nydal (bass, vocals), Henrik Nesse (drums) & Jørn Ståle Norheim (guitar).
Nifrost has previously made two demos and they released their debut album ”Motvind” in early 2016.
The ten-track album also is out on physical format. Motvind was mixed by Kim Lillestøl, mastered by Christian Indregard and the cover art was painted by Elsa Norunn Håheim Nydal. The band report that the songs were made over five years ago, but Nifrost did not wanted to release the album until it was of the quality they have been aiming for.
“Motvind” is a 55-minute album is entirely in a native language of the band. It contains ten tracks, each of which is strong heavy powerful and very impressive. They really give the listener an incredible positive energy.
This album is really something. The strong sharp guitar riffs will delight every demanding listener. The big applause for the drummer – Henrik Nesse, who really knows what to do with drums. The energetic powerful impetuous drums knock down the walls of Jericho.
The great bass line and extremely heavy vocals are like a serial killer. They can murder everybody .
Nifrost creates an instant surge of power. All that makes you want to push the replay button indefinitely. “Motvind” magnetizes and it is doubtlessly recommendable. From the first to the last second consistently attractive. It sweeps you off your feet.
