In the first news we’ve heard from Cape Town based melodic metal band Moment Of Clarity since releasing their ‘Awakened’ single in 2014, the band have hit hard with the announcement that their first full length album is due for release early in 2016. The new work, to be titled Transcendence, will follow up the bands acclaimed 2013 Resurrection EP. Moment Of Clarity have been quietly working on the album in the background since easing off from the local gigging circuit this year.
In December 2015, Cape Town based melodic metal band Moment Of Clarity have released the second single from their upcoming full length album Transcendence. The single, titled ‘Embrace The Fire’, embraces individualism and personal growth amidst the modern day pressures experienced in society, according to the band:
“Much like the impersonal facade of social media and the subtle reluctance to act with empathy for fear of what others may say. It’s a cry to be real and to remain true to one’s self belief.” ~ Lindsey Russouw (vocals, Moment Of Clarity),
‘Embrace The Fire’ has been marked as a significant milestone for the band also because it is the first track originated by the band’s newest guitarist, Stephen du Plessis, as the primary songwriter since his joining in March 2014.
“It’s powerful, catchy and melodic. Just the way Moment Of Clarity likes it.” Neil Bezuidenhout (guitar, Moment Of Clarity).
“‘Embrace the Fire’ has got everything you would expect from Moment Of Clarity, but with a fresh approach that will resonate with fans and new listeners.” ~ Andrew Potter (drums, Moment Of Clarity).
“I’m excited that ‘Embrace the Fire’ has been chosen as the first single. The band has a great working relationship and we’re super proud of the outcome of our collaboration. This will definitely be evident in Transcendence.” ~ Stephen du Plessis (guitar, Moment Of Clarity).
The band went on to describe the new material as being representative of their outlook on the project, which is one of fun, experimentation, and being open to new approaches.
“We are deliberately taking our time with this project as we wanted the writing process to evolve in the recording studio – as opposed to the typical practice jam – in order to combine creative input from all the band members” ~ Lindsey Roussouw (vocals, Moment Of Clarity).
Using the additional available time without the pressures of gigging, Moment Of Clarity tell us that they have written an entire set of new material. Also, having set up their new home studio, the band have gained a steady momentum with preparing the new album and promise release in early 2016.

“We’ve challenged ourselves to write an entire album from scratch. It’s been exciting to let the music take us to places we haven’t been yet. We’ve also been very aware of the fact that rushing to put something out there just to remain current is not in our best interest. For us, Transcendence is more of a journey than just recording an album” ~ Andrew Potter (drums, Moment Of Clarity).
“We’re having the time of our lives right now. The fun is in working together and Transcendence will show that. I also enjoy the fact that we have a lot of new studio and guitar gear to experiment with. This seems to be playing a huge role in expanding our window of creativity. In other words, being more specific (even deliberate) about our tones and textures, and not just settling for anything” ~ Stephen du Plessis (guitar, Moment Of Clarity).
“Its been a very organic and uplifting process. Every member has had a hand in the songwriting process. The band is working on a higher level with no non-productive issues getting in the way of our creativity and progress. This album is all about striking that balance between fun and taking the time and effort to explore new and creative avenues of writing and recording.” ~ Neil Bezuidenhout (guitar, Moment Of Clarity).
The band expresses gratitude to their fans who continue to support them, and have been patient with Moment Of Clarity whilst this new work has been prepared. Members are feeling optimistic that the new song, and indeed the entire Transcendence album, will not disappoint. The ‘Embrace the Fire’ single is available as from today for streaming and limited download on Souncloud.com. The full Transcendence album is expected to release within the first quarter of 2016.
