Founded in 2009, the São Paulo band John Wayne chooses this name as a protest to violence, referring to US serial killer John Wayne Gacy, also known as "killer clown". Group songs the question common scenarios from day to day Brazil such as poverty, hunger and human cruelty.
In 2010 the band produced their first studio album, released in February 2011, entitled "EP 2011". The songs "Mundo dos Horrores," “Talvez o Amanhã” and “Pesadelo Real” are well accepted by the public that the band quickly won the first two years of work.
In August 2011 he released the single "Aliança" in order to unite different strands of Metal and Hardcore. With participation of musicians Bruno Figueiredo and Rodrigo Brandão, the song quickly reached the 200,000 mark plays on YouTube and has established itself as one of the most representative songs in the Underground scene.
In 2012 the band entered the studio to record the first full: the "Tempestade" album. The disc is designed under the signature of the renowned music producer Adair Daufembach, whose resume productions has Hangar, Ponto Nulo No Céu, Project 46, Aquiles Priester e Tony Macalpine.
"Tempestade" reached 11,000 plays in less than 72 hours of viewing on YouTube. The official release of the album took place on November 12, 2012, entirely virtual and independent. On that day the #JohnWayne and #Tempestade hashtags joined the list of trending topics on Twitter in Brazil. The release concert took place on November 24, 2012 at Carioca Club in a historic event in Sao Paulo, which included the participation of 1,200 person on the crowd. The show and the backstage were recorded and will be part of a future DVD of the band.
In February 2013 Edu Garcia enters the band and marks a new phase in the group's career. In the album promo tour "Tempestade", John Wayne performs in several cities of São Paulo and it shows in the cities of Paraná, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais.
In conjunction with the MB Movies the band produces music video clip of "Lágrimas". Launched in October 2014, the highlight of creation was moved to the Freefly technology in the camera movements, as well as image resolution: Digital Cinema 4K. The clip was cited as one of the best audiovisual productions in 2014 in the Brazilian underground scene.
"Dois Lados" is the name of the new work of the band, whose production is also signed by Adair Daufembach and will be released in two parts (I and II). The album was released for the first time with a record label, the Deckdisc record.
The new work consists of 10 tracks and music production, as well as its predecessor album, is signed by Adair Daufembach. Songs question everyday issues and human cruelty; a protest done since the band's name: the same as the serial killer US known as "killer clown". With a more modern language, in "Dois Lados – Parte I" Metal / Hardcore band comes enhanced with aggressive vocals, heavy guitar riffs and drum driven dynamics. However without restricting the labels or styles.
John Wayne was one of brazilian national representative in the Sunset Stage at Rock in Rio in 2015, alongside bands Lamb of God, Deftones, Halestorm and Project46.
