BIOGRAPHY
Austria’s brandnew Modern Melodic Death Metal export originates from St. Pölten, Lower Austria, and was founded in February 2013, featuring ex-members of renowned Austrian metal acts TRASHCANNED, EPSILON and DESICCATED.
Aeon Of Ashes:
TIM SKLENITZKA (Vocals). Singer and frontman of TRASHCANNED (2003 - 2012) who played 123 shows all over Austria as well as half of Europe and released 2 EPs and 2 albums ("Redemption" 2007 and "Key to the Paradox" 2010).
JORGO (Guitars). As a founding member and guitarist of Austrian W:O:A Metal Battle winners EPSILON, he played around 80 gigs and recorded the Album "Truly Yours and in Love" (2011). Before he left the band in September 2012, his last 3 shows were Extremefest Austria, Wacken Open Air and STP Metal Weekend.
GEORG KNOLL (Guitars, Backing Vocals). Guitarist and singer of MINATORIA (2011 to present), currently singer of PSYCHOSPANK, solo project SOUND THE DEATH KNELL.
MARKUS "MEXX" CHMELAR (Bass). After starting off with CHEIRON (2005 to 2007) and short term shooting stars DESICCATED (2008 to 2010), he joined TRASHCANNED in 2008.
CARL MAGNO (Drums). Played in numerous Italian bands like MACHINE OF HATE and AEQUINOCTIUM to name a few. Moving to Vienna in 2010, Aeon Of Ashes is the first metal band he joined in Austria.
<2013> On February 13th, line-up was completed and AEONS OF ASHES started songwriting. In September 2013, two tracks (“White Lies” and “Depravation”, both to be found on the album) were released – and they were good enough to convince DARK TRANQUILLITY management to let them play opener at their show in Vienna.
In September 2013 AEONS OF ASHES had their first live appearances in Vienna and St. Pölten, and based on their very first released two tracks, the band was chosen to open DARK TRANQUILLITY and TRISTANIA (Szene Wien, Nov. 27th) where they received rave reviews.
In 2014 the band performed in Austria’s main metal hotspots – Wien, Graz, Salzburg and St. Pölten – as well as in Prague (CZ) and at two festivals: “Apocalyptic Form Of Death” (Trhové Sviny, CZ) and “Metal Outbreak” (Heidenreichstein, A). The band toured extensively, including club shows and gigs on midsized festivals all over Austria as well as in Italy and the Czech Republic.
For recording their debut album “Shutdown” Aeon Of Ashes chose top producer Norbert Leitner and entered the studio in June/July 2014.
As a teaser, two videos were released: a lyric video to the song “Monocracy” which reached more than 1.000 views in the first week only, and a story video to “Remember My Name” and earned the band some more reputation.
The album was released worldwide on Noiseheadrecords on Sept 19th, when the band also played co-headliner at STP Metal Weekend at their hometown St. Pölten, a renowned mid-sized festival this year headlined by ILLDISPOSED and HAIL OF BULLETS.
<2015> After completing the tour in January, AEONS OF ASHES began songwriting for their second album in February. In July they parted ways with drummer Carl Magno, and Clemens Nolz (HARMANIC, WARCULT) joined the band.
Autumn shows include not only STP Metalweekend and Gates of Hell festival, the band was also chosen to support doom/goth pioneers PARADISE LOST on October 31st.
