BIOGRAPHY
Insanus was a band formed in April 2007, in less than three years have developed their techniques and prepare a work based on Melodic Death Metal that remote quite usual Swedish sound of this style.
For the death / thrash metal band Insanus, from Portugal, the release of the EP "Wrath of Creation" in January 2010 became their first record. It was produced by Daniel Cardoso and Pedro Mendes (UltrasoundStudios). A self-titled EP with the level of a professional and signed band, we can say that Insanus can give us a great quality.
First, the production surprises me by its precision and clarity for the majority of the disc. The only negative note lies in the clarity of the guitar in some places. Regarding compositions, including "Genesis" and "Rise Of The Fallen", Insanus offers a melodic death metal with good stuff for thrash metal and some blast-beats that make me think of a blackened death metal influence. Talking about the vocals, Snake has a lot of passion and it is really supported by the two guitarists and the work on drums. In sound, the influences of melodic death Sweden are fairly obvious.
Fortunately, for some people, the side core is more obvious because of the ferocity of thrash metal amended in the last key on a title such as "Bitter Life". The guitar solos are effective and the rythm is well maintained through all the EP. You do not lose sight of the contribution of all members and is possibly something that stands out. Catchy without being too melodic, with speed, even if we are embraced by some mid-tempo passages in some songs.
In general, Insanus has done a really surprising work for a first offering and the combination of the American metal with the Swedish metal stuff is fairly aggressive and well done. In short, if you like this mix, you will not be disappointed. For my part, I am surprised with the result for a first work in a style where the window is highly exploited.
