Ocean of Grief - Eyes of Oblivion (official track)

BIOGRAPHY

Ocean of Grief was founded in 2014 when bassist Giannis(ex-Typhon) and guitarist Filippos (ex-Typhon) decided to form a band musically close to the melodic doom/death metal genre. The keyboards and guitar duties were handled by Aris(Meden Agan, Memorain) and Panagiotis Kyriakou respectively, who also introduced Thomas to the band, as a drummer. 

The band's line up was completed with the arrival of Charalabos on vocals and then the bands 1st song, Drowned in Nostalgia, was recorded at Panagiotis' home studio as a demo. Following the song's upload, Panagiotis had to leave the band in order to move permanently to Australia so a new guitarist needed to be found as soon as possible. 

Luckily, Dimitra (ex-Final Words Of Sorrow) auditioned for the band, she became a regular member and the band started working on its first official release. EP's recordings started, eventually, at autumn of 2015 and the EP was finished at early 2016 when the russian lebel GS Productions agreed with the band to release the EP on February 2016.

On December 23rd, 2017 the band released the second single from their new album entitled "Eyes of Oblivion", brought to life by the amazing Haris Kountouris of the HK Visual Creations.

A Constant Storm - Nexus (Acoustic Live)

“Storm Alive” is A Constant Storm’s debut album and follow up to the 2014 EP “Storm Born”. This new work features lead vocals by Ricardo Pereira (Moonshade, Vimara) and was recorded and produced by Afonso Aguiar (Moonshade, Dark Oath, @ISFrame).

This video was recorded in first live appearance of the project A Constant Storm on July 23, 2017 included in the solidarity event organized by the Association of Homeless and Paulo D'Ávila Club.

It was a small acoustic showcase and took place at the Recreational and Cultural Center of Aparecida in Lousada.

Hitwood Announces New EP + New Single Released

First Chapter of the new EP "Marea" that will be released track-by-track in the first half of 2018. Antonio Boccellari and Laurhell join forces to write a Melodic Death Metal track that doesn't follow the trends of the last years and will touch you with deep lyrics about an apocalyptic scenario predicted by the Hitwood dreams.

The EP will be released song-by-song, in a slowly way, as every one of the tracks will represent an important chapter of the concept, so really soon you could finally hear the first step towards apocalypse with the collaboration of the vocalist LaurHell.


The cover of the EP #marea, it was realized by Maria Jose of Emejota Illustrations (https://www.instagram.com/eme.jota.g/). It was really simple to work with her, I explained her my idea and she illustrate the scenery as I have seen in my dreams, an apocalyptic scenario where the sun fall into the sea. Yeah, the sun is really small here in the picture, but this is the vision I've seen in the dream....I really like the combination of colors, I have post-edited that to get more vibrancy to the artwork; the thing I like the most are the way Maria have designed the waves...check out her works! -  Commented Hitwood

BIOGRAPHY

Somnent is a solo melodic doom/death project by Giovanni A. Vigliotti in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Musical themes include personal struggle, death, nature, and the meaning of life and consciousness. While inspiration comes from an array of sources both musical and non-musical. The debut EP titled “Eventide” was mixed, mastered, and produced by Giovanni A. Vigliotti at Diagnostic Studios during the summer of 2015. Originally the album was released as a digital album on June 26, 2015 but after a positive response, was released on Russian label GS Productions in February 2016 as a limited edition digipack.

Sojourn, Somnent's first full-length release, is a concept album which revolves around a man's acceptance of death and his brief yet painful existence on Earth. And like nature itself, he has no choice but to accept the inevitable end. He comes to his own conclusion that life is nothing but a painful lie and death is the only truth that he must accept in order to find peace.

Sojourn was mixed, mastered, and produced by Giovanni A. Vigliotti at Diagnostic Studios between July 2016 to October 2017.

Requiem Laus - Hate & Despair (EP - 2017) - Bandcamp Stream

After the EP "Last Winter" be released in February, the Requiem Laus will make their comeback in December 2017 with the new EP “Hate & Despair”, out 15 December. Once again the lyrics sung by Miguel Freitas are authored by the poet Jorge Ribeiro de Castro. 

"The goal, instead of releasing albums, is to be more regular in releasing EPs," says Ricardo Fernandes. The musician / designer also hopes to return to concerts in national and international territory.

“Hate & Despair” was produced at Blackart Studios under the supervision of Ricardo Fernandes himself and vocalist / guitarist Miguel Freitas. The mix was once again in charge of Jorg Uken who again appears as a guest drummer. The cover was designed by Blackart designs.

Even without releasing yet "Hate & Despair", the band is already preparing the release of their next EP, TBA.

Mistralth - My Grief (Full-Length Album - 2017) - Youtube Stream

After a substantial gap of 16 years, Finland's Mistralth return with their second album, the follow up to 2001's independently released 'Diary of Despair'. Having enjoyed a lengthy hiatus, the group reformed with a new line-up and began demoing new tracks in 2015. And so, in September 2017 Mistralth's sophomore effort was finally unleashed. Fortunately, it's apparent very quickly that this second coming has produced an outstanding new album.

Mistralth is 1998 formed Dark Metal band from Finland. This is the second album from the band following “Diary of Despair” released in 2001. The sound and style is described as simple, rough, Old School style dark metal. Sometimes melodic, atmospheric and almost optimistic, at other times more misanthropic sounding.

The recordings took place between the spring of 2016 and summer 2017. An album by the name "My Grief" that includes 7 songs was born. A lyric video of the opening track "No Tomorrow" has been released the beginning of September 2017. The full album will be released by the end of September 2017.

Marja Mattlar & Anton Belov - Kohti (EP - 2017) - Bandcamp Stream

Legendary Finnish folk singer-songwriter and poet best known for writing the songs "Lintu" and "Kehtolaulu" covered by Finnish metal band Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus. Since her 1993 debut, Pariisi–Vuorenkylä, she has created works that are direct, uncompromising and widely regarded as classics. The poetic lyrics and strong atmosphere of her music have secured her a place among the great folk artists of our time. Recent works include collaborations with the Finnish folk group Tenhi.

In February 2016 a southeastern musical wind started to blow towards Vuorenkylä (the village where Marja lives). Anton Belov, who makes Finnish-language music in Kiev, Ukraine, and performs it with his band Kauan, contacted Marja. He asked if Marja would be interested in writing lyrics to Kauan's new album. Marja decided to accept this surprising challenge. Anton's compositions and Marja's lyrics were published as Kaiho in September 2017.

When Marja had finished the lyrics for the album Kaiho, she asked Anton Belov to arrange four new songs that she had written. Anton had never before arranged music made by others but took the challenge. These songs written by Marja and arranged by Anton were published 1st of December 2017 as an EP titled Kohti ('towards').

Marja Mattlar was the one whose poetry always made chills on my skin. By simplicity and beauty of every word in every sentence, Marja leads you through her story.

I first discovered Marja’s tracks years ago when living in Lahti. The city library had many of her CDs. Marja’s pronunciation of the Finnish language is impeccable, and I loved her simple-but-deep lyrics. For every album I write, there is always a stage when the music is nearly finished but there are no lyrics yet. It occurred to me that I could get one of Marja’s poems from her website and just use it temporarily. After doing so, it was clear that it fit the track so perfectly that I decided to write her asking if we can keep it on the album. Marja answered and said that she was familiar with the band and that one of her sons listens to KAUAN. This is how we started. Working with her was a great experience. She’s actually never written lyrics for anyone else. So this is an experiment, but I feel like it’s a 100% successful experiment. 

I heard her previous work with Tenhi (album Polku) and was impressed by her musical personality. When i recorded promo version of Kaiho, i used her poem as placeholder lyrics, and every word fit the melody so well that i asked her to write lyrics for the whole album. Happily she agreed. She is an outstanding Finnish poet and it's a great honor to work with her.

Oh yes, 1st of December, my (as Anton Belov) first collaboration with Marja Mattlar, Kohti, was released under our very own label, kauanmusic. It's my first release as composer and arranger for Marja's tracks. –Anton Belov

Kauan - Kaiho (Full-Length Album - 2017) - Bandcamp Stream

Kaiho is KAUAN’s eighth album following 2015’s lauded Sorni Nai, and focuses on childhood and the transition to adulthood, when the death of a loved one shatters halcyon beginnings and makes clear the stark reckoning that awaits in the end. 

"This is a new circle in KAUAN’s life. We’ve been slowly walking through the genres of music, and now I feel we are coming to a destination. To me, it sounds like a very mature and comprehensive sequel to our 2009 album Aava tuulen maa. Lyrics for Kaiho were written by the great Finnish folk singer Marja Mattlar, and as always with KAUAN, they are sung in Finnish, a language that in its eliding vowels creates soothing ethereal tones understood by few but deeply felt by all.

KAUAN was founded in 2005 by Anton Belov. KAUAN’s music evokes feelings of languor and nostalgia, drawing upon viola, choirs, slow and melancholic piano melodies, ambient vibes and a neoclassic approach.   


KAUAN have always created moments of quiet introspection, even amidst the thundering riffs and caustic screams that largely defined the contours of the band’s earliest output. But on Kaiho, as KAUAN step out of their past, songwriter and founding member Anton Belov explores the transition from idyllic childhood to the care-laden weight of adulthood, fondly and tenderly bringing the faded memories of days long gone to life. KAUAN are from Russia, sing in Finnish, and are based in Ukraine, but their music is universally stirring.

Combining classic death metal song writing with epic melodic soloing and middle-eastern influences, Aeternam fine-tuned its craft and made it into a perfect blend of brutality and melody.  The sheer amount of talent and creativity inherent in Aeternam is refreshing and fans of metal everywhere took notice once the band’s debut studio album "Disciples of the Unseen" was unleashed upon the masses in 2010.  The album, produced by JeF Fortin, contains 10 tracks of pure intensity, crushing riffs, pounding bass lines and brutal growls paving the way for epic solos, acoustic melodies, ambient keyboards and large vocal harmonies.  Fans of Behemoth, Iced Earth and Melechesh will most certainly find something about this band to enjoy.

Canada’s Aeternam joined the Metal Blade roster in May 2009 and continued locking down shows in the great white north, including dates with Behemoth in Montreal, at the Trois-Rivières Metal Fest alongside Suffocation, Unexpect and Quo Vadis, just to name a few.

In October 2012, the group moved to another level by releasing its second album entitled "Moongod" and confirmed its particular sound signature.  The collaboration with Jef Fortin was a success for their debut album, therefore they decided to continue working with him. "Moongod" is a continuation of "Disciples of the Unseen" having developed in maturity and sound as well as having grown into a new context: “Symphonic Ethnic Metal”.  Clean production, epic orchestrations, lyrics that surely will give your brain a workout, memorable song writing, top-notch musical execution are all the characteristics that coalesce into the great experience that is "Moongod". A boatload of fun and headbanging is guaranteed!

The band parted ways with Metal Blade Records and joined Galy Records roster in 2012, supporting bands such as Overkill, GammaRay, Ex Deo, Krisiun, Septic Flesh, Melechesh, and many more.

In 2016, after taking a writing break of two years, the band announced that they were making a concept album entitled "Ruins of Empires", depicting tales of nine rulers of the ancient times. Each song will take you to the past, in a musical and lyrical way, to experience the colorful atmosphere of a glorious figure. 

Produced by Jef Fortin for the third time, Aeternam wants to stick to its winning formula, while experimenting different cultural sonorities.

The band released its first official video for the song Damascus Gate in January 2017, bringing a powerful visual dimension to their sound.

Equipped with a new guitarist in Eclipse Prophecy’s Maxime Legault, their latest once more dives deep into ancient civilizations and musically has some of the best material the Quebecois have penned to date. Taking melodic death metal as their foundation, the inclusion of mostly Middle Eastern and some Asian influences is what gives their music that special flair that makes them stand out, together with a remarkable knack for amazing dynamics and great flow.

From their begining in 2007 in Quebec city, Aeternam has been known for their unique and authentic sound, combining extreme and epic riffs with middle-eastern melodic influences, making a perfect blend of harmony and brutality.

It is an absolute mystery how this band can not be under contract, because not only is the musical side outstanding, but the production is clear and powerful, the cover artwork great and they simply do not just sound like yet another band in the jungle. Easily a contender for a high spot in year-end lists and hopefully also a worthy contract, Ruins of Empires is another gemstone in Quebec’s star-studded metal crown!

"Ruins of Empires" was released on February 10th, 2017. The band hopes to broaden its dominance and conquer the world by touring in support of the new album.

Requiem Laus Announes New EP + New Single Released

After the EP "Last Winter" be released in February, the Requiem Laus will make their comeback in December 2017 with the new EP “Hate & Despair”, out 15 December. Once again the lyrics sung by Miguel Freitas are authored by the poet Jorge Ribeiro de Castro. 

"The goal, instead of releasing albums, is to be more regular in releasing EPs," says Ricardo Fernandes. The musician / designer also hopes to return to concerts in national and international territory.

“Hate & Despair” was produced at Blackart Studios under the supervision of Ricardo Fernandes himself and vocalist / guitarist Miguel Freitas. The mix was once again in charge of Jorg Uken who again appears as a guest drummer. The cover was designed by Blackart designs.

Even without releasing yet "Hate and Despair", the band is already preparing the release of their next EP, TBA.

BIOGRAPHY

Plaguestorm  is a very intense and powerful melodic one man band created by Sebastián Pastor. He is the songwriter and lyrics writer of all songs. Heo had a step Death metal band called Infirmor, which played bass.

After an succesful debut release, the EP "Everithing's Gone Wrong" in 2015 counted with the special participation in the voices of Björn Strid (Soilwork / The Night Flight Orchestra) on one of the themes and session musicians as Diego Martinez (guitar) and Ryan Strain (Voices). Plaguestorm is back, once again teaming up with Björn Strid (Soilwork / The Night Flight Orchestra), and new collaborations by Pablo Román (Pre-Solo and Solo Guitar), Sebastian Nuñez Szymanski (Keyboard and Orchestration) for the release of the band's new single called "Fire Within" extracted from their upcoming EP, more details will be revealed soon.

Among the contemporary Doom Metal bands who have risen in the international scene during the last decade, French-based MONOLITHE, whose musical journeys opened up new horizons for the genre, stood out from the mass since its early days.

MONOLITHE’s music needs to be lived more than listened to. Its atmosphere is grandiose and epic. The entire discography is a musical saga that mixes heaviness, mysticism and complex structures tinged with hints of progressive flair. The listener is invited into a world of beauty, horror and nothingness.

MONOLITHE 's music can be qualified as Dark Doom Metal : a Doom/Death basis on which we add other influences, from Extreme Metal to Progressive, passing through the adventurism and psychedelia of the 70's. The music is mostly loud and powerful, rich in riffs and atmosphere, very immersive and spatial. It evolves with each albums, MONOLITHE does not want to stagnate, neither to stick to the over-exploited codes of the gender. The band, which exist since 2001, released 6 albums, 2 EPs and a Best-Of. They have, at first, been known for their sets of albums composed of only one long track, starting with "The Great Clockmaker" saga ("Monolithe I - II - III - IV") and then followed by the duology "Epsilon Aurigae" and "Zeta Reticuli".

7 musicians gathered to record the 7-minutes songs to feature on MONOLITHE’s upcoming 7th opus - NEBULA SEPTEM.

On the album, the tonality of each song is one of the 7th notes of the western scale.

The first letter of the songs’ titles is one of the 7th first letters of the alphabet ; It is also the tonality of each song - from A to G.

Song lyrics develop science-fiction stories mainly focused on extra-terrestrial life. The music - while reminiscent of the band’s usual touch, is a new step ahead in the band’s career, with new influences and a rejuvenating approach.

Shrouded in mystery, we’re not sure who is behind the scenes of GOD.  All that we know is that GOD is a multi-layered progressive metal juggernaut waiting to be discovered by the metal community at large. Utilizing 4, 5, and 8 string bass guitars, 6-string and baritone guitars, and complex musical structures, the band creates a unique sound that differs greatly with each track. One of the most prominent features of GOD’s debut album GOD I is the emphasis on melody over bone crunching heavy metal. Of course, the music is plenty heavy.

Listening through the band’s debut I’m taken to a world of mystery and enchantment. GOD II – Jesus Christ – The Origin, The Life, Death & Resurrection Of Jesus Christ.

“I am” begins memorizing the audience with the introduction of a gentle harmony of the guitar quickly changing course with a brutal guitar riff and the penetrating rhythm of the double bass drums, establishing authority. Obey follows by intensifying the continuous rhythms of the guitar. Worship enters with the pounding of the bass guitar and the whining sound of the guitars. Temptation lures you in with the angelic sounds of short guitar riffs. Transfiguration comes in with  commanding sound of both the drums and bass guitar. Holy gives a sense of comfort with the soft harmony of the guitar still emphasizing the power of the drums. Prayer a melody of harmonics, carrying you into Trust amplifying the distortion of the guitars. Forsaken becomes brutal with the pounding of the drums and sorrow of the the guitar. Crucified pleads with the melodic harmony of the guitar. Death comes with the heavy pumping of the bass and screeching  fear of the guitar riffs. Finally, Forgiveness ends with the harmonic sounds of the guitar leaving your skin with frisson.
