Yet, when WORMED reach out into the void, the results sounds far more like a dark space opera inhabited by bizarre aliens, genetically and technically evolved meta-humans struggling for power and survival in galactic empires. On their third full-length 'Krighsu' the fast rising Spanish Sci-Fi tech death prodigies are telling a dystopian cosmic story with lyrics and music joined into an overarching concept.

Odd-time signatures, avalanches of breaks and complex rhythmical as well as melodic patterns will excite every  of extreme technicality fan, while growls down-tuned strings and double-bass assaults will more than satisfy extreme metal connoisseurs. While being outstandingly skilled musicians WORMED are avoiding any self-indulgent show of prowess for its own sake. Instead the five-piece from Madrid clearly lays its emphasis on creating atmospheric songs, which develop and grow along the underlying story.

Originating from Spain's capital Madrid in 1998, WORMED immediately made an impact in the death metal scene with the release of their 'Floating Cadaver in the Monochrome' MCD (1999). Following a promo CD under the title 'Voxel Mitosis' (2001), the first studio album 'Planisphaerium' received high acclaim by critics and fans alike in 2003. In the wake of their debut full-length, the Spanish received invitations to international festival shows and touring around the globe. WORMED performed in Japan alongside GORATORY and VOMIT REMNANTS and afterwards hit Europe with MALIGNANCY and DESPONDENCY.

A creative hiatus, partly due to line-up changes and filled with re-issues of their previous released as well as the single 'Quasineutrality' (2010) finally ended, when their sophomore album 'Exodromos' came out in 2013. Its intense brutality, dissonant dynamic riffing, and tremendous heaviness combined with an amazing futuristic concept, which introduce the character Krighsu - last human in the cosmos, harvested top reviews and saw WORMED headlining in the US and co-headlining in Europe.

Now WORMED are ready to explore the cosmos and fate of 'Krighsu' even further, while climbing to even more mind-blowing musical heights. Prepare to experience the universe in the light and sound of a new aeon dawning!

Sulphur - Omens of Doom (Full-Length Album - 2016) - Bandcamp Stream

BIOGRAPHY

Comprising past and present members from bands like Gorgoroth, Aeternus, Enslaved and Vulture Industries; Sulphur is a force to be reckoned with. The band started out from nineties BM outfit Taakeriket at the turn of the millennium, intent to follow a path set between death and black metal, spiced up with a progressive mindset . As a quartet, they recorded the demo “A Relic for the Damned” in October 2000. This lead to playing live support for Aeternus and a slot at the Hole In The Sky Festival 2001.

After a couple of dormant years Sulphur returned to life in 2005, this time with a reinforced line-up and their second demo “Outburst Of Desecration”. This demo lead to a deal with Osmose Productions and the band started to work on their debut album. Following a second Hole in the Sky festival performance in 2005, the band entered the studio to record “Cursed Madness”. The album was released to great reviews in 2007.

In 2009 Sulphur returned with the more challenging than ever “Thorns in Existence” to great acclaim. This lead the band on tour Europe together with Taake, Helheim and Vulture Industries. With main songwriter Øyvind Madsen being very occupied with Vulture Industries this was followed by a period of low activity.

Fortunately, the cauldron never stopped boiling, and the band is now back with their 3rd album, "Omens of Doom". After a few years of silence, Sulphur is back with their signature brand of technical, blackened death metal. “Omens of Doom” traverse the twilight between the brutal and the epic, and vary from being the soundtrack of destruction to the soundscape of the aftermath. The band has once again worked in Conclave & Earshot Studios with longtime collaborator Bjørnar E. Nilsen (Taake/Helheim/Vulture Industries) for the production, while Herbrand Larsen (Enslaved/Gorgoroth/Audrey Horne) mastered the album.

BIOGRAPHY

When Artillery formed in the small Copenhagen suburb of Taastrup in 1982, little did they know they'd be here alive, vibrant, and ready to destroy in 2016. Sure, they've had their share of ups and downs-the group first folded in 1991, returned for a brief one-album stint with B.A.C.K. in 1999, and officially reformed in 2007 after a good multi-year hiatus-but any metal band worth their salt perseveres. And Artillery have survived. They were there when thrash metal took off. They were around to see the emergence of death metal. And they're here today, to make their mark on a whole new generation of metalhead.

Most active metal bands from the early '80s don't have the same energy as Artillery. It's as if the Danes are unstoppable. On Penalty by Perception it's as if it's 1985 again. Clearly, Artillery are excited to be making music and touring again. "The last years have been great for Artillery," grins Stützer. "We have been doing around 100 gigs every year, including three tours of South America, two U.S./Canada tours, trips to Japan and China, a European tour, a UK Tour, a lot of festivals like MetalDays, Bang Your Head, Rock Hard and Maryland Deathfest. And we have been on two Metal Cruises like Barge To Hell and 70.000 Tons Of Metal. We also recorded four albums since 2009!"

"Penalty By Perception", the new album from veteran Danish thrashers ARTILLERY, can be streamed in its entirety using the Bandcamp widget below. The CD was released on March 25 worldwide via Metal Blade Records.

Written over the course of the last two years, ARTILLERY's seventh full-length effort draws from their classic albums like "Fear Of Tomorrow" (1985) and "By Inheritance" (1990), as well as "When Death Comes" (2009) and "Legions" (2013). Having recorded at Medley Studios and bringing Søren Andersen on board as the producer, ARTILLERY achieved the sound that they were aiming for. "We worked really hard together to get this amazing sound," says guitarist Michael Stützer. "I feel the band have come up with some great songs. The best musical performance in the history of ARTILLERY. Can't wait to hear the fans' reactions!"

"We have some of the most dedicated and diehard fans from the early days of Artillery still supporting the band," says guitarist and co-founding member Michael Stützer. "It's awesome to meet them when we are on tour. The difference is that now they are coming with their sons and daughters and this is amazing. Half of our fans were not even born when we released our first album, Fear of Tomorrow, but our new fans know all the songs!"

Certainly, old and new fan alike are excited about new album, Penalty by Perception, where they'll have 11 tracks to learn. Written over the course of the last two years, Artillery's seventh full-length draws from classic albums like Fear of Tomorrow and By Inheritance as well as When Death Comes and Legions. It's an Artillery album that's both familiar yet modern in its attack. "Penalty by Perception has the typical Artillery riffing, with powerful drumming and melodic singing," asserts Stützer. "[It's full of] catchy hook-lines. We also wanted the sound to be a bit heavier and more powerful than on Legions."

But apart from the merciless riffs of Stützer and his brother Morten, the ground and pound rhythm section of drummer Josua Madsen and bassist Peter Thorslund, and Michael Bastholm Dahl's searing vocals, Artillery wanted an extra spark to songs like 'Cosmic Brain' and 'When the Magic is Gone'. So, they invited fellow Danes Hank Shermann and Michael Denner (Mercyful Fate) and Morten Sandager (Pretty Maids) to guest on what is arguably Artillery's strongest effort since the group re-committed to metal full-time.

Penalty by Perception's attack is both direct yet nuanced. The riotous immediacy of 'In Defiance Of Conformity' and 'Mercy of Ignorance' contrasts the studied awesomeness of 'Sin of Innocence' and 'Cosmic Brain'. Thanks to producer Søren Andersen and Medley Studios, Artillery got the sound they were looking for as well. "We had a great time in the studio with Søren," Stützer says. "We worked really hard together to get this amazing sound. I feel the band have come up with some amazing songs. The best musical performance in the history of Artillery. Can't wait to hear the fans' reaction!"

As for the lyrical themes explored on Penalty by Perception, Stützer and company are commenting on current worldwide affairs, death, war, and, of course, religion. But the lyrics aren't juvenile attempts to associate heavy music to heavy topics, though fan-driven 'Die by the Scythe' might appear otherwise. 'Deity Machine' questions the machinery of religion, 'Rites of War' is about personal struggles, 'Cosmic Brain' details Stützer's fascination with Superstring theory, while the title track is informed by Plato's Allegory of the Cave.

A familiar, yet modern thrash attack, "Penalty By Perception" delivers the band's signature riffing, with powerful drumming and melodic singing — and promises to be a new fan favorite in the Danish quintet's storied career.

Here's to Artillery! And here's to Penalty by Perception! Long live Danish thrash metal!

BIOGRAPHY

A folky, melodic death/black metal band from Dorset, England. Providing a bleak, atmospheric, yet fist pumping style of metal influenced by a combination of the European folk, black and melodic death metal scene, and from the more sombre forms of metal from their native land.

Accursed Years was formed in 2013 by Agnieszka "Annie" Bryniarska and Joseph Peers. They were later joined in 2014 by Jon Evans, and in 2015 by Rob Innell, Dan Reynolds, and Søren Willatzen.

They take their name from the two thousand years of the first period of Sauron's rule over J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth in the latter part of the Second Age. The name has come to symbolise many things, including the Norman occupation of England from the eyes of an Anglo-Saxon, to the bleak times of depression in life.

Accursed Years released their first single "Oaken Weave" in December 2015, and are now working on their debut album.

Heavenwood - The Tarot Of The Bohemians (Full-Length Album - 2016) - Bandcamp Stream

Heavenwood was originally formed as a death metal band under the moniker Disgorged in 1992. In 1995 tragedy struck the band as their current bass player committed suicide. They signed a record deal with the German label Massacre Records and their name changed to Heavenwood and released two albums.

"Diva" was promoted with two European tours, the first in the end of 1996 with Atrocity and In Flames and the second one in the spring of 1997 together with Theatre Of Tragedy and Lake Of Tears. They also played with bands such as Cradle Of Filth and Moonspell between others in their home country. In 1997 "Diva" was released in the Japanese market through Marquee Belle Epoque Records with some extras.

Their second album "Swallow" released in 1998 features guest appearances from Theatre Of Tragedy's female vocalist Liv Kristine and Gamma Ray's mastermind Kai Hansen. 1998 was the year for the first Portugese Metal act on the famous Wacken Open Air Festival playing for a full Wet Stage with fans from all over the world followed by more European Tours with bands such as Atrocity, Solitude Aeturnus, Saviour Machine and more. Heavenwood would be considered Band sensation in many important Metal Magazines such as Metal Hammer, Rock Hard and a 4 in 5 in Terrorizer Magazine was " a gift " for the Portuguese newcomers effort in the music scene.

Heavenwood were frozen from 2001 to 2003 due to some internal problems. After several line-up changes Bruno Silva turned into the second Guitar-player. October 2003 was the Official Return Show for Heavenwood on the most important Live Rock Club in Portugal with a fullhouse night where almost 1000 people received the band with open harms followed by many gigs in Portugal and Spain.

In 2008 "Redemption", was released in the band's home country of Portugal at the end of August. The special-edition version of the CD (limited to 1,000 copies), which included a free ticket for one of the group's two record-release shows, sold out almost immediately. Shortly afterwards, a second special edition for the Portuguese market was released, including a totally different artwork and booklet.

"Redemption" was mixed at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden with Jens Bogren (Opeth, Soilwork, Amon Amarth). The initial recording sessions for the CD took place at Ultrasound Studios with Daniel Cardoso production and Pedro Mendes assistance. The CD features guest appearances by Annihilator guitarist Jeff Waters (in the song "Bridge To Neverland"), Firewind guitarist Gus G. (in the track "One Step to Devotion") and singer Tijs Vanneste of the Belgian progressive metallers Oceans Of Sadness (in the song "Obsolete").

HEAVENWOOD released its fourth album, entitled "Abyss Masterpiece", on March 14th, 2011 via french Listenable Records. The CD was mixed and mastered by the german producer Kristian "Kohle"Kohlmannslehner (CREMATORY, POWERWOLF, BENIGHTED) at Kohlekeller Studios in Germany. "Abyss Masterpiece " was firstly recorded again at USStudios with Daniel Cardoso. The album artwork was created by Matthew Vickerstaff of Darkwave Art, who has previously worked with CRADLE OF FILTH, MY DYING BRIDE, among others). "Abyss Masterpiece"features guest appearances by RAM-ZET's Miriam Renvag (also known as SfinX) on a track called "Leonor", alongside Russian symphonic classical composer Dominic G. Joutsen. "Abyss Masterpiece " is an intense album, both musical and lyrically. It has great orchestral arrangements by Dominic G. Joutsen that when added to the guitar riffs and melodies made everything become unique, heavier and dark.

" The Tarot of the Bohemians " is the fifth album to be released firstly in Portugal, with a limited edition by Raising Legends Records. The album will have the international released and distribution afterwards by a new international label ( t.b.a ).

Inspired and dedicated to the french occultist Papus and his studies regarding the Tarot.

Heavenwood drum sessions for the fifth studio album "The Tarot Of The Bohemians " were done by Daniel Cardoso ( Anathema ), who previously recorded " Redemption " and " Abyss Masterpiece ". The drum recording session took place at Ultrasoundstudios in Braga.

French drummer Franky Costanza, from the band DAGOBA, is a special guest for this new album. Franky Costanza recorded the songs " The Wheel of Fortune " and " The Lovers ". Sandra Oliveira, a portuguese female singer from the band BLAME ZEUS, is a special guest on the song " The High Priestess ". Fadi Al Shami, from the band ARAMAIC ( Middle East / Dubai ) is a special guest on the song " The Hermit ".

Ricardo Dias ( Heavenwood ) composed and recorded the Music and the Orchestral parts of " The Tarot of the Bohemians " at the Raising Legends Studio, where producer André Matos, who recorded the bass session for this new album, Ernesto Guerra Vocal recording sessions and Vitor Carvalho Lead Guitars recording sessions took place at the RAISING LEGENDS Studios ( Porto / Portugal ).

BIOGRAPHY

Ghost Ship Octavius is a new band featuring members Matt Wicklund on guitar (God Forbid, Ex-Himsa, Warrel Dane), Van Williams on drums (Ex-Nevermore, Ashes of Ares, Pure Sweet Hell), Adõn Fanion on vocals and Dagna Silesia on bass (Warrel Dane, The People Now).  Formed in the Summer of 2012.

The supergroup  made a successful Kickstarter campaign and released their self-titled debut on March 23rd, 2015. And it was worth the wait! Melodic, proggy, and totally epic, as we’ve noted before, GSO definitely pulls heavily from Williams’ old band… which is in no way a bad thing (especially since there is no more Nevermore).

The album  Features Guest Solos by Jeff Loomis (ex-Nevermore, Conquering Dystopia), Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry), Mattias "IA" Eklundh (Freak Kitchen, Freak Guitar), Rusty Cooley (Outworld, Day of Reckoning) and the legendary Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans-Siberian Orchestra).

The band’s sound features technical and groove metal elements, highlighted by Adōn’s powerful clean vocals, Van’s tasteful rhythms and Matt’s melodic and intricate guitar solos. The band have since teamed up with Grammy-winning and multi-platinum selling producer Neil Kernon (Nevermore, Queensryche, Cannibal Corpse, Hall & Oates, Nile).

Ghost Ship Octavius have combined their diverse yet complimentary music styles to create a powerful and dynamic sound highlighted by soaring vocals, virtuosic guitars and hooky but progressive arrangements.

Sacrificed Alliance is a band from Montreal South Shore, more specifically from Longueuil, the band was formed in May 5th 2011, the band is composed of six members and includes keyboards in its Melodic Death Metal, who officiates in a widespread gender in Quebec.

Since spring 2011, Antoine Fleurent (guitar) and Dominic Bourke (drums), both from Longueuil, spoke often to form a group. That's when May 4, 2011 the two musicians decided to form a group and began to play popular songs. May 5, 2011, Dominic found a catchy name for the group and that's when born "After The Blast".

In October 2011, a friend of Nicolas joins training: Vincent Bellavance (vocals). Later, in December 2011, Nicolas heard spoken of a guitarist looking for a band. The guitarist appears in a practice of ATB in January 2012 and blown away by his talent, members agree with open arms for Marc-Antoine Lizotte (guitar). Marc took the role of lead guitar and Antoine switched to rhythm guitar. In February 2011, after a long discussion about the name, the group decided to continue his musical career under the name "Sacrificed Alliance".

After months of looking for a keyboardist, Dominic is referred to someone with the same musical tastes in a practice. At the latter, in November 2011, Felix Plante officially join the training role of keyboardist. The group had several discussions about their singer in Fall 2012, wondering if he should keep it because of several reasons. It was then that the show November 24, 2012 an incident occurred Vincent judged too by the group. He was then removed from group 27 November 2012. In March 2013, a friend of Felix and Dominic appointed David Potter therefore propose to try to sing in the same group if he had almost no experience. Despite this, the group he impressed in his first practice. After a private show, March 27, 2013, David was formally admitted to the group.

In 2014, they gave us a first taste of their talent with the E.P. Our Blessing and in 2015, a single  entitled: The Price of Innocence which will surprise many.

But finally after five years, the first full album, Withering Synergy was born and was released on January 23rd 2016. The new album is the band´s debut full length release, was recorded and mastered at Silverwings Studios in Montreal, Quebec and was released independently.

When Nothing Remains is a Swedish Doom/Death Metal band containing members from bands like Nox Aurea, The Cold Existence, Rimfrost, Draconian, Doom: VS.

The idea of When Nothing Remains was born in late 2010 when Jan Sallander from "Nox Aurea" "The Cold Existence" and Peter Laustsen "Rimfrost, Nox aurea, The Cold Existence" wanted to create something very dark and emotional. In beginning 2011 Jonas Toxen was added for the drum duties and Johan Ericson "Draconian, Doom VS, Shadowgarden" to handle the clean vocals, mixing and mastering.

After writing music together in The Cold Existence for many years they wanted to try something new, darker and more experimental from ideas they both have for years. The result turned out to be very good after a couple of songs and they felt that this is something they really want to do. Peter Laustsen felt that after his work with Nox Aurea he wanted to add something extra to this style of music and invited a couple of guest artists to patificate with clean vocals duties on some of the tracks. Johan Ericson was an obvius choice as Peter know him for years and he have very interessting ideas and feelings for this style of music.

 In middle 2011 first album “As All Torn Asunder” was recorded in Massive Assault studios and mixed/mastered in Dead Dog Farm studios with producer Johan Ericson (Draconian, Doom:VS, Shadowgarden) to get the perfect sound and feeling for the music. Release is sheduled for spring 2012 on Solitude Productions. As for Nox Aurea they once again used mastermind Zoltan Horvath to paint the artwork.

First album As All Torn Asunder was released March 2012 on Russian label Solitude Productions. The debut album of the project founded by members of famous Swedish band Nox Aurea featuring clean vocals by Johan Ericson (Draconian, Doom:VS and Shadowgarden). «As All Torn Asunder» is 70 minutes of refined melodic doom death metal carefully composed by professional musicians who put their souls into every part of this masterpiece from arrangements to powerful sound. This album is the best present to fans of modern doom death metal in the vein of Nox Aurea and Ablaze In Hatred, as well as to fans of Swallow The Sun and Draconian!

Second album Thy Dark Serenity was released June 2013 on Russian Label Solitude Productions. The second album highly anticipated by fans of the Swedish group and melodic doom death metal in general! Johan Ericson (permanent member of Draconian and Doom:VS) is again responsible for vocals, and, in addition, has performed mixing and mastering of the album. Perfect sound appeared as a perfect framing to the precious stone, beautiful music of When Nothing Remains. Musicians follow the ideas of the debut album and offer to the fans the same memorable doom death, melodic, stirringly touching and infinitely elegant. For those who are not familiar with the band this album may appear as a real discovery, while those who are already inspired by their music «Thy Dark Serenity» will become another blissful touch to the soul and the heart.

On February 22nd 2016, the Swedish gothic death/doom band When Nothing Remains released their third full length record ‘In Memoriam’ via Solitude Productions. The core duo of Peter Laustsen and Jan Sallander has been collaborating for over a decade now, and this new effort showcases some of their most heavy hitting and atmospheric moments to date. The former is reminiscent of some of the sweeping majestic leads common in Swedish melodic death metal, only spun into a slower doom framework, while the latter lets the keyboards and guitars intertwine into a hauntingly beautiful melody.

The third album by the Swedish masters of atmospheric doom death metal features everything the band is loved for: melodic compositions decorated with catchy guitar solos and atmospheric keyboards, with a harmonious blend of clean vocals and growl. At the same time, the symphonic sound is now the key element, which gives the material a special expression, epic and originality.

The album is Conceptually, the artwork of the CD completes the story told in the previous two albums, the tragic story of love, life and death, begun in 1800.

BIOGRAPHY

Warbell is a Polish Melodic Death Metal band formed in  the end of 2007 in Jelenia Góra, the band was founded by Martin Witeska, Peter Hasioli and Paul Szczypka. In the beginning they played covers, but soon began to compose their own music.

 In 2009 the band joined drummer Patryk Kryński and Krzysztof Barański and then they played their first concerts. In late 2009 they released demo "Battle Of Unnumbered Tears", but the vocals were made by Paul Szczypka. Then Mateusz Styczyński became the new vocalist, but not for long - in 2010 the band suspended activity.

They returned to the stage in 2013, with Rafał Wiaderek as drummer and Karolina Więcek as growling vocalist. Few weeks later they released a re-recorded demo from 2009 and started working on a new material.

On 1st December 2015 they released their first longplay album "Havoc", which collects very good reviews, both from the Poland and abroad. Meanwhile, they have played more than 40 concerts (with Turbo, Luxtorpeda, Ithilien, Radogost, Symbolical, Terrordome ...) and they have won Special Award of the League of Rock 2014, 2nd place at the Hard-Core Festival and numerous awards for best vocals.

BIOGRAPHY

Founded by Putrefatus and Skymning. Gray Souvenirs was formed when Putrefatus won his first guitar as a birthday present, February 4 2015. In its first incarnation the band with the participation of Skymning (base guitar) that after the release "Ventos da Transcendência" came to leave the project. Putrefatus had in mind to do a friendlier sound pro blackgaze / DSBM, but over time the compositions tended more to the side blackgaze, shogeaze and post-black metal with strong influences of Alcest, Amesoeurs, Les Discrets, Lantlôs, Shyy and ... (dotdotdot).

The lyrics revolve around memories and nostalgia, as Putrefactus himself says "Dreams of an empty life and all that I have not lived." Gray Souvenirs has a nostalgic and atmospheric sound with elements of aspects such as post-rock, shoegaze, indie and even post-black metal.

In short existence the band has shown a lot of work and shows signs that it has a promising future.

Now the Groove/Melodic Death Metal band  dropped the second band promotional single entitled "Blood Of Nation" buttressed by a powerful Lyric Video "and have done so through the following press released via Cerebros Exprimidos Blog:

The song "Blood Of Nation" is the 2nd single that forms part of what will be the 1st official album titled "Sick Society" with this theme the band tries to reflect the feeling of struggle and hope that we recover at all that has been lost in the country, our values, morals, quality of life and above all respect among Venezuelans brothers. "Blood Of Nation" is the turning point of leaving to do things only for oneself but also for the good of all as a nation, therefore think as cohesive society and stop being an individualistic metropolis.

Musically with that theme the band looks compact further merger between Groove and Melodic Death Metal where a strong chorus is denoted with an air of Hardcore and rhythmic reflected through aggressive and precise riffs, being a primary characteristic combination of different voices by all members of the band. 

In general ideas by "Blood Of Nation" the band seeks to emphasize, beyond the raw Venezuelan reality in which we live day to day, that feeling of struggle, identity and not decay which we must express and foster all Venezuelans to bring out this great country of one of the darkest times in its history.
