Drawing from a vast array of influences, Arbrynth have developed a sound that reflects the color of folklore, woven with their heavy metal roots. The result of this unlikely combination of darkness and light is a style of music that takes the listener on a journey of love and loss, set against a backdrop of nature and earth. The atmosphere in Arbrynth’s music is refined through a combination of distorted guitar-driven riffs, epic leads and acoustic guitar melodies all intertwined with relentless death growls and ethereal vocals and harmonies.
Upon doing some detective work on the Google machine, I found out that it had been roughly nine years since their last release. Their self-titled album in 2011 garnered a bit of online attention, and many of the comments I’ve read have shown a genuine excitement at this new release. Needless to say, this is fantastic music that is both crushingly hard and trance-inducingly groovy.
Arbrynth’s sophomore album “A Place of Buried Light” is a concept album exploring the themes of love and loss. Each track represents a chapter in the individuals odyssey depicting the sacrifices made as they strive for understanding. It was released on February 3rd 2020. The new album contains 7 tracks totaling 49 minutes so a robust 7 minutes per (instrumental track “The Calling” is only 1:48 which bumps the average up of the others).
