Aephanemer - Prokopton (Full-Length Album - 2019) - Bandcamp Stream

Founded in Toulouse in 2014, Aephanemer was initially a one-man-band created by Martin Hamiche to release six instrumental pieces inspired by his scandinavian Melodic Death Metal heroes. The first EP of the project, Know Thyself, was forged from these songs.

Know Thyself aroused considerable interest from both specialized press and amateurs of metal. In less than a year since its release, Know Thyself music cumulated all together 300.000 YouTube views.

Quickly after the release, Martin looked for loyal mates to form a full band and reinforce the project’s structure: Anthony, Marion and Mickaël joined Aephanemer and brought their unique style and skills to the band. The band played a series of live shows all across France, which provided many opportunities to meet and share great moments with some of their best supporters.

On September 16th 2016, Aephanemer released its first full-length Memento Mori which fullfilled the strong expectations of their active and fast-growing fanbase and generated important interest from specialized press. Memento Mori allowed Aephanemer to establish themselves as one of the most serious newcomers of the Melodic Death Metal scene.

A few months after the album release, Lucie joined the band as the new bass player and followed the team on a long series of festivals in six different countries, eventually leading to a triumphant show at Wacken Open Air 2018 in front of eight thousand headbanging metal enthusiasts driven by the band’s melodies and stage presence.

After two years of songwriting and live performance, Aephanemer releases its sophomore album Prokopton on March 2019 via Primeval Records. On this occasion, Niklas Sundin (DARK TRANQUILLITY) took care of the album design while Dan Swanö (UNISOUND AB) and Mika Jussila (FINNVOX STUDIOS) handled the audio production. The journey has just begun…

Aephanemer - Path of the Wolf (Single - 2017) - Bandcamp Stream

After the sucessful release of their debut full-length album, the French Melodic Death metallers AEPHANEMER have decided to re-release their debut EP with vocals included, their new single, ‘Path of the Wolf’, is available for streaming. Path of the Wolf was mixed by Dan Swanö at Unisound AB and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios.

"Many among you asked us to release our songs from Know Thyself with vocals, and we wanted to try new production processes to prepare our next album. We decided to record "Path of the Wolf" completely once again - with vocals - and asked the best audio engineers we know to handle the production. We hope you will love this track :-)" - Commented the band.

The quartet broke into the metal scene with their debut EP ‘Know Thyself’ in 2014, followed by their full-length ‘Memento Mori’ in 2016.

Integrating musical elements from scandinavian Melodic Death Metal, slavic traditional music and classical symphonies, AEPHANEMER brought some freshness to the modern metal scene and generated significant expectation from their newly formed and quickly growing fanbase.

Aephanemer - Memento Mori (Full-Length Album - 2016) - Bandcamp Stream

The French Melodic Death metallers AEPHANEMER released their debut full length album, ‘Memento Mori’ via Primeval Records on September 16th, 2016. On this special occasion, AEPHANEMER had the honor of collaborating with Niklas Sundin (DARK TRANQUILLITY) who designed the album artwork and Maciej Dawidek (WIDEK) who took over the audio production.

Aephanemer’s signature sound combines great melodies and riff-heavy metal with dirty growling which crawls all over the songs. Add to that a liberal use of keyboards that paint a dreamy sound landscape. The result really appeals to me. Melodic death metal it is, but with heaps of progressive metal and a very personal touch. Aephanemer manages to cram a lot of personality into its songs. In a crowded scene with many bands sounding quite alike, the personal touches, including some folk-inspired parts to some of the songs, make Aephanemer stand out from the crowd.

Having initially begun as a one-mand band, the musical essence of Aephanemer has been crystallized in January 2014, within a first solo EP : « Know Thyself », mixed by Maciej Dawidek (Widek) and illustrated by Niklas Sundin (Dark Tranquility). The band broke into the metal scene with their debut EP ‘Know Thyself’ in 2014. Integrating musical elements from scandinavian Melodic Death Metal, slavic traditional music and classical symphonies, AEPHANEMER brought some freshness to the modern metal scene and generated significant expectation from their newly formed and quickly growing fanbase.

Marion, Mickaël and Anthony quickly joined the band after the EP release.

The year 2014 was marked by the formation of a complete line-up and the organization of concerts in Toulouse’s musical scene, but also by the composition and realization of a first full-length album.

After a multitude of shows given all over France and strengthened by the support received from eminent metal webzines (Metal Observer, Lords of Metal, HornsUp, Metal Impact) the band is now planning a National and European tour for November 2016.

Aephanemer - Know Thyself (EP - 2014) - Bandcamp Stream

BIOGRAPHY

Aephanemer is a merge of the two French words "éphémère" (ephemeral), and "fânée" (folded).

Founded in 2013 by Martin « Nif » Hamiche, Aephanemer is a Melodic Death Metal band born and located in Toulouse, France.

Aephanemer’s music is characterized with a taste of Scandinavian Melodic Death Metal (Dark Tranquility, In Flames), patterns from Progressive Metal (Dream Theater, Opeth), and depicting shapes and symbols of blues, classical music and russian patriotic marchs.

The core spirit of Aephanemer is to use the might and beauty that can be produced of a bass drum or a six-stringed instrument to narrate slices of life, and express the intense feelings related to it, in the most authentic way possible.

Having initially begun as a one-mand band, the musical essence of Aephanemer has been crystallized in January 2014, within a first solo EP : « Know Thyself », mixed by Maciej Dawidek (Widek) and illustrated by Niklas Sundin (Dark Tranquility).

Marion, Mickaël and Anthony quickly joined the band after the EP release.

The year 2014 was marked by the formation of a complete line-up and the organization of concerts in Toulouse’s musical scene, but also by the composition and realization of a first full-length album, planned to be released in 2015.

On September 24th of 2015 the band notices in their official website that: "The full-length album composition is finally reaching an end and the last song is being composed now.

There will be ten songs on it, and more than 50 minutes of Melodic Death Metal ! You can expect more diversity than on Know Thyself, the full-length format allowed us to create something way more complete than what we have done before".
