The name "Black Soul" came the junction of two things. Markus, the guitarist of the band, was always dressed in black and friends started calling him "black". On the other hand and at the same time, his mother , making its own assessment, he said he looked like a soul. + Black soul (soul) = Black Soul.
The band actually started in March 2008, when two brothers Markus Reis (guitar) and Alvaro Reis (bass) started rehersal musics of System of a Down and Guns' n Roses. Some time later came another guitarist and they played 2 times with the band incomplete (missing the lead singer and drummer) and a few songs in hig school parties, in Karl Marx cinema. A few months later Vanilson Teixeira (vocals) joined and the band started doing more serious rehearsals and playing more regularly, playing covers with some original music. The band line up was still incomplete, but the second guitarist quit the band a short time later.
As began to emerge amps and the sound volume began to increase, the band inevitably entered the last phase in which all the bands pass and that some even never come out: get a rehearsal room. The rehersals were being done in the house and bedroom of each band member, and whenever possible the band occupied the terraces of the buildings at the weekend. There was, during that time, some attempts to include more people, and came to be tested more 3 elements, 2 guitarists and a drummer, but there was no continuity. The band rehearsed over five months without drummer, and succeeded, in July 2009, a fixed smoothly place to rehersals was founded when a neighbor wanted to sponsor the band and lent an attachment.
In October 2009, on the preliminary of a rock night of "Mvula" at Kings Klub, trough Yannick of "Last Prayer" the band met Pedro Alves (drummer), who had just arrived from Argentina and was looking band to play. 2 Talk fingers and unbureaucratic test came and the full line up of the band was finally formed. There was a lot of hunger of make music and tests were conducted at great pace, 3 to 4 times a week with the band evolving rapidly and new sounds to emerge naturally. After a month, came the first opportunity to play live at a party school Gregorio Semedo in Karl Marx. Although it was the biggest place where the band has played, the event was poorly organized and only let them play a song, probably due to the fact that the crowd average age was around 12 years ... accompanied by their parents. (!!!)
The lesson was learned and resumed testing, with more and more delivery and more desire to create and play. There began to be a certain comfortable playing sounds of some well-known bands such as Drowning Pool or System of a Down and the band already had an acceptable number of original songs, like ......... 4. The band decided then make its official presentation to the scene Rock Luanda organized a concert at the legendary backyard of “Alegria”, unavoidable character of Vila Alice, a great friend and supporter of the band. After the first concert, followed less than a month, came the second concert in conjunction with the "Scars of Soul Band" and that the people joined the concert in mass followed by a uncontrollably amount of beer. At the end of the second concert appeared such a Luis Nambi, and without telling anyone caught in the micro and announced the first apperance of Black Soul at Kings Club a month later and the crowd thanked. It was a great concert together with the "Mvula", where despite the mosh our bass player and to have run down the middle of a song, the crowd never disarmed. After all, the main ingredients were gathered to rock party: well shaken heads and well sweaty black shirts.
After that concert the band lost the rehearsal room and was provisionally in 3 more places, stretching up to the maximum time in which the neighbors could stand or that the police took to come "suggest" that would not go. In a few months later they got an attachment in Maianga and returned to the charge again. The band received many other invitations to play on a bunch of other concerts, they played in the Kings Klub with the band "Before Crush" that came from Benguela and accepted without rotten conversations. That was a a memorable night, consider by the band one of the bests concert they ever played, the crowd enjoyed like never their music.
They released a debut EP on November 2, 2013 during Halloween concert played by them and Singra band at kings club. The EP was produced by Miguel Camilo, was recordered on Marimba Studio in Luanda, was mixed and mastered on G-Spot Studio in Lisbon and the artwork was maded by Mauro Macedo.
