BIOGRAPHY
BLOODRED is a BLACKENED DEATH METAL band from Oberstenfeld (North of Stuttgart, Germany). Since it´s founding in 2009 the band is the project of Ron Merz who is the songwriter and plays all instruments. The vocals and programming are also done by him.
Due to the lack of other musicians in his area BLOODRED is currently a pure studio project such as SUMMONING or FALKENBACH.
The music of BLOODRED combines influences from Black and Death Metal and mixes it with late 80s Thrash and sometimes (British) Doom.
Incorporating melodies and a certain epic feel into the music - like EMPEROR or MOONSORROW do - is always a key element. The lyrics cover a wide range from diverse literary sources to contemporary events and topics.
In December 2013 and March 2014 the time was right to record the first EP. The recording took place at MASTERSOUND ENTERTAINMENT Studio by renowned producer and Death Metal veteran Alexander Krull (ATROCITY, LEAVES´ EYES).
On the EP BLOODRED shows mainly the furious Black Death Metal site behind the band's name. All drums were played by Joris Nijenhuis (also ATROCITY, LEAVES´ EYES). He shows his extraordinary skills in both songs and lifts the music to the next level.
The EP "The Lost Ones" was released June 20th 2014 digitally in advance. The physical release was unleashed end of August 2014.
BLOODRED - MEDIA FEEDBACK "The Lost Ones":
4 / 5 - (All Around Metal)
85 / 100
"The fierce music, best compared to a band like EMPEROR, just screams for a full length release. I can only hope that this EP is nothing more than a small taste of the great things to come!" - (Inside The Coffin)
8,5 / 10
"BLOODRED managed a crystal clear production on their first creation, well feed by sophisticated compositions, a gem of the genre with just the first EP!" - (Metalheads Union)
8 / 10 ( Rating: "Excellent")
"BLOODRED have manufactured a melting pot of virtue with “The Lost Ones”, giving you just a little taste. Hopefully there is more where this came from, and hopefully we don’t have to wait too long." - (Metal Temple)
7,5 / 10
"…plenty of energy in the guitars that bring some additional emotion towards the end as the keyboards and choir-esque vocals force their way to the forefront…" - (Apoch's Metal Review)

For this the head of the band, Ron Merz, has teamed up with Alexander Krull (ATROCITY, LEAVES' EYES) in its Mastersound Studio in Germany mid of July.
For the two it was to continue the successful BLACKENED DEATH METAL cooperation from the year before last year.
Recording master Krull produced the whole and took over mixing and mastering. After the critically acclaimed EP "The Lost Ones", which was released in August 2014, the done co-operative represented the second collaboration of this proven team.
In the technically well-equipped halls of the renowned Mastersound Studios releases of known acts like ATROCITY, LEAVES' EYES, BELPHEGOR and OBSCURA have already been provided with a great sound. The guitars got recorded under the direction of Thorsten Bauer (ATROCITY, LEAVES' EYES).
Once more with the mystical game in Swabian realms was also Joris Nijenhuis (ATROCITY, LEAVES' EYES), who played the drums just as it did at 2014 EP "The Lost Ones".
BLOODRED mastermind, singer and multi-instrumentalist Ron Merz comments: "I was insanely blazed with great joy at the new recording sessions! In the Mastersound one can work as relaxed as fully focused. And Alex was always close with words and deeds."
Equally important to the studious BLOODRED main actor is the competent and experienced Joris Nijenhuis who plays the drum parts for the upcoming longplay crusher: "Joris is a world-class drummer, bringing in a whole new way ennobling, powerful dimension to my music with its style!".
BLOODRED - MEDIA FEEDBACK "Nemesis":
86 / 100
"BLOODRED breaks away from these stereotypes … the production is crystal clear and the songwriting is exciting … of course there’s blasting violence, but there’s also epic riffing and beautiful melodies on 'Nemesis' … and then there’s the drumming. Wow. Just like on the band’s debut EP drumming on Nemesis is Joris Nijenhuis. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, maybe his other bands do, ATROCITY and LEAVES’ EYES? And that’s where it gets interesting … if I had to name a favorite song of the album, it would probably be 'Hail Storm' … it contains so much power, it’s epic, but most of all, it’s a headbang-inferno! If you listen to this song and manage to stay absolutely still, you’re no metal fan!"- (Inside The Coffin)
8 / 10
"… this is another great sounding recording from BLOODRED and if you are a fan of melodic, blackened Death Metal, you should check out this album." - (A Different Shade Of Black Metal)
7 / 10
"What caught my attention is also how Mr. Merz uses the riffs and the vocals … the riffs are mostly Black Metal whereas the vocals give the album that Death Metal feeling … soundwise, the record is quite technical so the fans of the technical side of the genre will enjoy this record more … the style even reminded me of a less melodic version of Tuomas Saukkonen’s WOLFHEART or even his previous projects."- (Melody Of The Soul)
"I really tried to find the disadvantages of this album but I struggled a lot … the vocals are almost perfect for the kind of serving … I loved the drums and was impressed by the maturity of Joris Nijenhuis’s technique, who seems to well hold the his instrument and gives a darker tone with his aggressive playing style … guitars are my favorite in the album … I know I’ll hear many nice things from BLOODRED because such a job (and I say it with both concepts) must have a continuity … "Nemesis" is essentially a Black Metal music release that will make many people to change their mind about the genre and to review whether Death Metal can hold as a sub in something else." - (R1 Radio)
"An excellent place to introduce yourself to this album would be via the single “The Hail-Storm” (for which a video complete with lyrics can be viewed just below) … this song is based on a poem of the same name that was adapted and translated by English author and linguist George Borrow, retelling a story that was originally part of the Jómsvíkinga saga. (For those especially interested in literary history, there is some further background about the efforts of Borrow and some of his contemporaries to translate a series of Kjæmpeviser (“Heroic Ballads”) from old Danish, in the introduction to this pamphlet that reprinted another of Borrow’s translated ballads …" - (Valley Of Steel)
