Neurotech - In Remission (Full-Length Album - 2016) - Bandcamp Stream

BIOGRAPHY
Neurotechnology is any technology that has a fundamental influence on how people understand the brain and various aspects of consciousness, thought, and higher order activities in the brain. It also includes technologies that are designed to improve and repair brain function and allow researchers and clinicians to visualize the brain.

Neurotech The band was formed in 2007. Before that Wulf was involved in several groups, but because of their love of mixing very different styles of musician decided for himself that he is comfortable working independently. Initially, Neurotech was a full band, but later the founder focused on work as a solo studio project. Otherwise, it's a futuristic metal/electronica hybrid run by Wulf, who is also the songwriter and producer behind the bands releases.

The idea for the band goes a long way back, but it became serious when Transhuman EP was completed in 2007 and released in January 2008. It contained 5 powerful songs filled with sonic soundscapes, simple yet aggressive guitar riffs combined with a lot of synthesizers. In support of the release was held a few concerts, but the main goal was to create and release a full-length album.

In 2008 a websingle - The Angst Zeit was released to show people a bit upgraded Neurotech sound and direction.

Then - in years of composing, experimenting, failing, learning, and some more failing, the debut album was released in March 2011. Antagonist is a developed vision of Neurotech. Big choruses, choirs, melodies and carefully chosen harmonic content combined with a dense production makes Neurotech move another step in the right direction. Album lyrics are always written from a multiangle point of view - dealing with topics such as - inner opponents, anxiety and agoraphobia, to nonexistence of a modern indentity. The album received a lot of good reviews in the media.

Further, the project has released several EPs and singles, as well as the trilogy "The Decipher Volumes" (2013), which included two previous mini-album "Decipher Vol.1" and "Decipher Vol.2", as well as 3 of the appropriately named "Decipher Vol.3 ".

By this time Wulf has tried many different styles and techniques. There were also instrumental atmospheric Symphony ( "The Elysian Symphony"), and guest vocalist (Tanja Ravljen), and even a real game-cat that sort of helped with the recording of the next material. Continue creative work embodied in the next full-length album "Infra Versus Ultra", posted October 27, 2014, as usual, are available on bandcamp page.

In 2015, Neurotech came just two albums. The first - "Stigma" (first released on CD in July), which contains, according to Wulf, diverse and atmospheric music - a harmonious mixture of ambient, electro, symphonic, metal, futurepop and trance. Four months later, he was released the second album "Evasive", which became the hallmark of the past due to the lack of vocals and guitar parts. The main emphasis is on melody, harmony, space and cinematic atmospherics. Wolf wanted to record this album in the period 2010-2011, but only in 2015, all the pieces of the puzzle have developed as expected.

A new album called "In Remission" was released on June 5, 2016. The album is of course entirely wrote, recordered and  mixed by Wulf, the cover was made by Martin Rozman, a little challenge with guitars helped Matic Mlakar (The Kraken Production).

It's hard to really categorise “In Remission”, like much of Neurotech's work. There are hints of industrial, metal, trance, ambient music, synthpop and orchestral music, no particular style overshadowing any other. It's not uncommon for musicians to have diverse influences, however instead of a grab-bag of different musical ideas “In Remission” feels like a smooth blend where none of the elements are contradictory. Some songs may have chunky metal guitars and staccato rhythms, but their absence on other tracks feels completely natural. In fact “In Remission” is possibly Neurotech's most diverse LP to date, despite it also being the shortest.

When it comes to “In Remission”, its bite-sized length serves as both a benefit and a crutch. For newcomers it can provide a fantastic introduction as it is both more diverse than previous Neurotech releases and easier to digest. However for long-time fans it may sound like business as usual, a perfectly fine release to satiate listeners until Wulf's next endeavour. Also while the sound of the album is great, it must be said that the overpowering snare and relentless bass synths on songs such as Divided Bliss can prove to be exhausting.

While “In Remission” is far from Wulf's strongest work, it provides a concise and comprehensive summary of his sound. It's as good a time as any to delve into not only this album, but his whole back-catalogue. While it might not be an album that challenges or excites his fans, it is certainly a satisfying and solid addition to an amazing discography.
